This is a quick knit hat I created for my best friend.  The hat is constructed by creating a hat band, and then picking up stitches and knitting in the round to finish the rest.  It is one of those patterns that looks intricate and difficult to knit, but really is rather simple.  I would suggest checking out this link www.grumperina.com/cables.htm to learn about cabling without a cable needle.  Because the cables are only two stitch cables, it is easier and goes much more quickly without the extra needle!  Enjoy!
